Youth Acting & Improv Program


Westside Improv Studio is proud to offer a youth program for children in the community who want to gain experience and confidence in performing. If you are a parent looking for a unique opportunity for your child to learn improv in a fun and safe environment, this is it!

Class Times

Our youth program classes meet on Tuesday nights during the following times:

Grades 1-4 Tuesdays 4:15pm – 5:10pm
Grades 5-8 Tuesdays 5:15pm – 6:10pm

Session #2 Nov 5th – Dec 17th (no class Nov 26th for Thanksgiving)
Session #3 Jan 14th – Feb 18th
Session #4 Mar 10th – Apr 21st (no class Mar 31st for Spring Break)

Have your children come and learn the art of improv in a fun, safe, supportive environment that encourages their growth and creativity. Using improv techniques, your child will learn how to:

  • build social skills
  • improve confidence
  • learn acceptance though the YES, AND method of improv
  • work collaboratively in an accepting environment
  • develop active listening
  • form connections with other children

About the Teacher

Anne Marie Irey has been involved in theater for almost thirty years. She minored in Theatre at Saint Mary’s College and earned her M.Ed. at DePaul University. Anne Marie is an Alum of The Second City and she spent several years performing improv in Chicago. Previously, she taught 4th grade at Sacred Heart School, where she founded an after school drama program. Prior to teaching here at Westside, Anne Marie taught the Children’s Workshop at Wheaton Drama. You can also find Anne Marie performing musical improv here on Friday nights with her team, Dirty Bars.
