Jeff Ash
Jeff Ash, founder and owner of Westside Improv in Wheaton, Illinois, established the theater and training center over a decade ago. Starting with just seven or eight performers, it has grown to include more than 80 regular performers and a robust student population. As the artistic director, Jeff has turned Westside Improv into a cultural hub, frequently selling out performances. The theater's success prompted a move from its original basement location to a larger ground-level storefront to meet the increasing demand for quality improvisational entertainment in the western suburbs.
Jeff's expertise extends far beyond traditional theater. He has developed and implemented corporate training programs that harness improvisational techniques to enhance team dynamics, communication, and problem-solving skills for businesses across various industries. His most notable corporate achievement has been his extensive work with the United States Army, where he has trained over 1,000 military personnel worldwide.
Jeff's innovative approach helps soldiers develop critical improvisation and problem-solving skills, while his work with military families focuses on building trust and improving communication through engaging, playful techniques that create safe spaces for vulnerability and deeper connections.
"We are all People In Process."

better relationships
Improv teaches us how to be truly present, become active listeners, and in turn strengthen relationships. Forge stronger working relationships so you can do great things together.
deeper collaboration
In improv, like in any organization, each person on a team brings with them their own strengths and weaknesses. When a team comes together as an ensemble, though, each player knows how everyone fits and the result is the ability to create something wonderful together.
more creativity
Improv cultivates a spirit of acceptance where we are able to share our ideas freely and without judgment. This is how improvisers are able to create something out of nothing right before your eyes on the stage. We help you get the most out of people’s creativity.
“At the capacity sessions with our technical staff, Jeff emphasized the importance of connecting, listening, and embracing the “Yes, and…”, all in a challenging but non-threatening environment. The engineers who attended enthusiastically apply the principles they learned, and we see the results.”
“We invited Jeff Ash to Hawaii to train US Army chaplains and religious affairs specialists to relate to others using improv skills.
The participants were fully engaged and enthusiastic. They learned practical skills while having fun, so that those skills are now deeply ingrained. They built bonds with each other, resulting in a stronger team.”
