Acting for Improvisers with Natalie Brown
Tuesday night from 7-9pm.
Aug 26, Sept 2, 9, 16
Whether we like it or not, when we are doing improv, we’re acting! And while there’s some improv skills that overlap with acting skills, there’s so much more to dive deep into.
And why does it matter to have acting skills for improv? It means instead of having to say the thing, you can clearly communicate the thing to your scene partner with your tone, body language, facial expression, or physicality.
But don’t worry! No scripts are involved! No Shakespeare or Tennessee Williams to read! We will still be doing improv, but the focus will not be on traditional improv skills.
Some of the skills to cover:
How to use the stage in a scene that’s not “physical”
Showing emotions on a variety of levels (How Sad at a 3/10 looks different from an 8/10)
Building emotion throughout a scene
Complex emotions (What does it look like to be groggy, placid, hopeful?)
Enunciating
Practice over-acting so we can stop under-acting
Lots and lots and lots of object work
Baller Discount Available. Please check your email, codes were sent to you.
