This class is for improvisers who love superhero movies and playing boldly. This challenging narrative improv form tells the story of a superhero’s journey as they face challenges along the way to completing their mission.
Topics will include:
> > Developing bold characters
> > Discovering and forwarding your character’s want
> > Thwarting the wants of other characters
> > Developing alignments
> > Heightening within characters and scenes
> > Using moves unique to this form including camera angles and slow motion
*Note that this form is a variation on the original Upright Citizens Brigade Movie Form. Our main focus will be storytelling rather than camera angles.
There will be four graduation shows after class ends. Dates TBD by student availability for the end of October and November. You will perform in two shows or possibly more based on student availability. Note: You must attend 7 of the 10 classes to perform in the shows.
Class Dates: Tuesday, Aug 18 - Tuesday, October 20
Time: 7-9 pm
(Note: this class runs for 10 weeks)
Cost: $350
Pre-requisites: Completion of Westside Level 4 or the equivalent in Players Workshop, college improv training program, or another theater’s improv training program.
