Let’s Get Weird: Anthropomorphism
The goal of this workshop is to explore the humanization of non-human entities in improv. This approach is frequently used in fantasy and science fiction literature and movie animation. We also see this in modern sketch comedy. Examples include cars that talk, animal friends, and a singing candlestick.
Objectives
Explore physically creating characters from nature (living and non-living) and man-made, non-living things.
Use scene work to explore the circumstances, relationships, and relationship development between non-human entities, and non-human entities and humans.
Practice how to apply anthropomorphism when generating characters during an improv show and clearly establish those characters from the outset.
This workshop is the third in the “Let’s Get Weird” workshop series. If you liked “Let’s Get Weird: Physical Characters” or “Let’s Get Weird: Voice and Speech Play”, you’ll like this workshop too. We’ll apply skills from both workshops.
