Object Work + Mime Workshop: August 22

$50.00

Do you feel like “object work” is a chore to check off a list in your scenes? Do you find “environment” to be the slipperiest of Jeff’s scenic stepping stones, and are you tempted to just skip right over it? Let a pair of mimes help you find your environmental footing.

Jen has years of experience as a professional mime, clown, dancer, and actor. She’s also a yoga instructor, trained to help people move their bodies safely and expressively.

Alyssa is a mime dabbler with all the athleticism of someone who got her high school P.E. credits via snail mail correspondence course. She poaches mime techniques to rescue herself from feeling stuck or lost in scenes.

In this workshop, we will introduce the fundamentals of mime, with the goal of applying (stealing) these skills to discover richer characters, environments, and relationships in improv scenes.

Wear clothes and shoes that let you move your body comfortably, and bring a water bottle. Expect to move a lot (see: Jen), but no need to be a natural athlete (see: Alyssa).

This workshop is open to experienced performers and students Level 2 and higher.

Date: August 22, 1-4pm
Cost: $50
Teachers: Alyssa Barringer & Jen Buhrow
